Mount Olive Lutheran Church Music

Our Music Ministry

Mount Olive is blessed to have wonderful music as part of our worship experience. Music is an important element of the worship experience whether it’s our talented choir, special guest music or congregational song.

Organist

Our congregation is blessed to have Mrs. Marilyn Bauer serving as our church organist for more than 25 years. Marilyn studied organ at Concordia University, Chicago, Illinois under the tutelage of Dr. Thomas Gieschen and has been playing the organ since she was 12 years old.

Preludes and postludes played in the Divine Service are often chosen from a variety of classical composers such as Bach, Buxtehude, Pachelbel and Handel. Many hymn improvisations and variations are played from among such 20th century composers as John Behnke, Paul Levitt, Paul Manz, Flor Peters and Jan Bender.

Choir Director

Mount Olive is blessed to have Mrs. Karen Meetze serving as our choral director for more than 25 years. Karen is well-loved by those who sing in the Mount Olive Choir, as she makes members feel more confident in their singing ability, while seeking to deepen the faith of their spiritual lives. Sometimes spoken of as the “Best Kept Secret of the Church,” the Mount Olive Choir has not only enriched our public worship services, but served as a great place for new church members to become more fully integrated into the life of our parish.

Karen also directs the Mount Olive Hand Bell Choir and the Sunday school Christmas program.
